Real-time business jet configuration and demonstration in Unreal Engine

This project was designed for a private business jet service and sales company. The objective was to enable potential buyers of pre-owned business jets to visualize aircraft in 3D and explore various retrofitting and customization options to suit their preferences. The visualization is based on professionally conducted volumetric scans of the actual aircraft, which are then imported into Unreal Engine for real-time photorealistic rendering.
My Work
I designed and developed the OSC-based interactive interface that connects Unreal Engine with the web control interface. This interface ensures that clients have the utmost freedom and responsiveness to customize the aircraft’s appearance. Additionally, I collaborated closely with 3D artists to set up procedural materials and textures that facilitate smooth transitions and a wide range of control options. Furthermore, I utilized React to create a prototype of the web control interface for testing purposes.
Interior & Exterior Customization Through Web Interface
Using tools like texture arrays and procedural materials, we achieve a high level of customization, from the color of surfaces to the material selection of furniture, all while maintaining the photorealistic quality of the volumetric-scanned model.
Environment Control for Customized Visualization
By leveraging Unreal Engine’s advanced real-time rendering capabilities, we implemented features that also control the atmosphere and environment of the visualization. This enables a more appealing presentation that better aligns with the client’s personal preferences.
